Nothing Goes to Waste February 3rd San Francisco

The last 5 months have been a really exciting time for us with the new direction into the fine art world. Our next show is just a week and half away and is in the wonderful city in the bay, San Francisco. For this show we asked our good friend David Murray from Seibei to host the show. He happily said yes, and did a little write up about the upcoming show and work…

The Two Rabbits are a fucking powerhouse. In the years I’ve known them, their work ethic and tireless efforts have been an inspiration, and I’m honored to have been able to work alongside them, and to be their friend. Though hindsight always makes printing until 3 in the morning seem more fun than it may be at the time, I have fond memories of printing with them the night before an event, hands alternating between a squeegee and a tall can of Tecate.

Five years of busting ass has given them an intimate connection to the screen printing process. From their humble beginnings in a garage to their current digs at LA’s infamous Scum Dungeon, Bob and Mike have been in the thick of it, with dirty hands and stained jeans. Though there are many small touches to their work that hint at the amazing process involved – handmade color fades, slight changes to the paper brought on by climate and different inks, added touches like spray-painted stencils – these are but small elements in a back catalog of work that shines with a well-trained eye for design and a small army of hands pulling squeegees with precision.

In “Nothing Goes to Waste,” the Two Rabbits have turned this around by bringing this rich process to the forefront, and those of you on the outside can be brought into their amazing world. Longtime fans of theirs will recognize their “monoprints,” where layers of test prints are built upon themselves to produce singularly unique pieces that repurpose elements of dozens of designs, but their newest works bring in the by products of every step of the process – ink mixing sticks, scraps of test prints, and more – and are truly a sight to behold. These works will be displayed along some of their greatest hits, giving the uninitiated a great introduction to their work, with plenty of treats for longtime fans.

If, like me, you’re planning to be there on opening night to crack open a cold beer with the Two Rabbits, it might be the next best thing to working alongside them in the trenches, and you won’t even have to worry about getting ink on your shoes.
