Black Lips Poster

The Black Lips… Let me be frank, these dudes rock the freakin’ house! These guys know how to have a good time, that’s for sure, so we decided to have a good time with their poster. The first color, yellow, is hand rolled onto the paper using a lino ink roller. The purple and black layers we printed by hand, then the Red type we stenciled on each poster with spray paint.

Limited edition of 50, approximately 20 x 15 on white coverstock.

SKRILLEX POSTER

Little known fact about Skrillex: He’s obsessed with Watership Down, the allegorical epic about rabbits written by Richard Adams. Well, Bob is too, and he also loves dirty bass music. When we got asked to make a poster for this sold out show in Pomona, the answer was, “DUH!”

The illustration was done by Bob in full color with watercolor pencils. We thought it would look sweet to print it CMYK with spot color background. I think we were right. The digitizing, color separating, and printing processes each had an interesting effect on the image that really added to the feel of the poster.

Most posters got snapped up at the show, so get one while we still have a few left!

The Kills

This little poster we did for The Kills, a creative duo, just like us! They came through town on tour recently, promoting a new album. We used some of Mikes photography here, featuring some of our favorite party pics and street flicks. Custom hand rendered type by our in house lettermaster, Jerry Barajas the 3rd!

The Crass Rock Poster

In a time when punk went pop and sub cultures became full on cultures, CRASS kept it real in the field! Well, they are still keeping it real, and recently came through town on a US tour. We were extra stoked to do a poster for these punk legends. We are fans of Gee Vaucher and her great work but didn’t want to copy her style here. So we went a more illustrated route. We also pulled out the old heat press and added some silver foiling to the print!

These Prints are 12×15 inches White ink and Chrome Silver foiling on Black 80 lbs cover stock.

The Airborne Toxic Event Rock Poster

What’s better than one? Two, right? Try Three! Airborne Toxic Event recently did several shows in LA, a mini tour between several of the prominent music venues of the area. We did a three poster series for them, pulled out all the stops and got wild with the printing process.

One of the benefits of printing all our posters in house is it allows us to experiment. Try weird and wacky new things that give our posters a certain flare.

In order to keep them consistent as a set we decided to print them all at once, and cut them afterwards. We employed a process in which we drizzled different color inks directly onto the open screen prior to pulling the print. This makes each poster completely unique and totally different from one another.

On the poster, the sky area has a crazy mash of colors streaking across it, making it look like a true airborne toxic event! Check out the video to see this process in action!

The Finished posters are each one of a kind, 3 layer screen prints, 12 x 12 inches on white cover stock. They are available as a set at $40.00 in our store.

Friendly Fires Tour Poster

Friendly Fires is one of our favorite groups to work with. We have been die hard supporters of these fine fellows ever since we first saw them in LA back in 08! Naturally we virtually exploded with glee when we were asked to make a tour poster. We employed a unique method of printing on these posters. A very analog approach using tape and at least 4 different colors layered together to create the fill in for the parrot. Teamed up with a translucent black outline layer, makes this poster a dynamic wonder for the eyes. Just like friendly fires is for the ears!
