Wu-Sciples on sale now!

What better way to celebrate Wu-Tang’s 20 year anniversary than with the release of Wu-Sciples, a ten color print celebrating one of the rawest groups in music. This print has been a long time in the making for us at Two Rabbits. When we had the idea we knew only one person could illustrate it right, Adam Hathorn aka Honkey Kong. We were already major fans of Adams work. He has illustrated jobs for us, been a great host when we were in San Diego and he is one of the best tattoo artist we know. Adam is also Wu obsessed, like us. With that said here is Adam in his own words…

“So far as my memory takes me, my introduction to Wu Tang was when 36 chambers was released in 93. I had to wikipedia that, my memory is not that good. My friend Strobe Beats played me “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthing ta Fuck Wit” on a walk man, or some shit, in the cafeteria. The beat made me wanna punch people, much like the hard core and punk rock music that I was listening to at the time. I immediately got a copy, and it was on constant rotation. That was what got me back into hip hop music. Previously I was listening to alot of Public Enemy and alot of the native tongue stuff, Tribe Called Quest, LONS, De La etc. After that hip hop was getting boring. I was young and turned to hard core music, especially in Boston where it thrived at that time. When Wu came with that raw sound with production that was stripped down and unpolished, it was an easy step back in. Wu Tang has been a huge part of music in my life since. I’m sure there’s been few days since that have passed without me hearing Wu in some form. I tattoo all day, or draw all day, so there’s some form of music always playing, and there’s plenty on shuffle.

I was lucky enough to be asked by the guys at Two Rabbits Studios to create the “Wu-sciples” print. Their idea was solid out ofthe gate. Wu Tang last supper with Big Baby Jesus front and center. I said sign me up. The illustration took a bit to do since they’re artist deep, but nonetheless a fun project. Thanks for choosing me to do this print, see you Saturday for the show….. Wu Tang is FOREVER!” -Adam Hathorn

‘BUY PRODUCT’ opens tomorrow…

Chris Wolford from Dethkills did a nice little write up for us about our current show opening tomorrow…

Hardworking, underrated, always smilin’, quick learning, corner hustlin’, print machines. That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think of 2rabbits. I’ve known the Rabbits for a little over 3 years now and I’ve been able to witness their growth as artists, entrepreneurs and most importantly friends. Bob and Mike are all too aware of the things that come with the pressures of running a collective: the ups and downs, the give and take, the love and hate.

What I have witnessed develop out of these elements are two amazing bodies of work: Unique Variants (exhibited in November 2011) and Buy Product (opening Thursday Jan 12, 2012 at Crewest Gallery). Both shows feature similar work where upon first glance you can’t help but recognize the choice color pallet, layers of minimalism and a ton of resin. The pieces are more reminiscent of the art born out of 1960s/1970′s Southern California surf/art scene rather than what you would expect from “rock poster artists”. However as the pieces drew me in, the panels never grew tiresome. My eyes were lead in a game of tag across strips of screen printed images, compounding to make a seem less flow of visual stimulation created from endless amounts of typography, illustrations, texture and color. Only one word needs to be said about this show. Refreshing…

Show opens Thursday January 12th, 2012
Crewest Gallery
110 Winston Street Los Angeles, CA 90013

MAN MAN Poster is Here!

Man Man is one of the most fun bands to see live. We were both instant life long fans after seeing these guys jamming. We made this full bleed poster for their show at the glasshouse in Pomona. We tried to capture their energy, and harmonic contingency with one solid visual. Not an easy task, but sometimes great things come out of simple doodles.

This poster is three colors on 110# Cougar White coverstock.
18″x24″
Edition of 55 prints

Jim Gaffigan Poster AVAILABLE!

Jim Gaffigan is HILARIOUS! If you haven’t watched one of his stand up shows, you should… Best known for his schtick about Hot Pockets,         his manager actually asked us not to reference hot pockets in this poster. So we decided to focus on jims pale pale flesh instead.
luckily he loved it! phew!

This poster is printed in white, red and black on a lovely blue coverstock.
22”x11.5”

Studio Visit with Los Ojos de Muerte and The Site UnScene

Right before our show on the 18th, one of our favorite shutter bugs (who “interned” for a hot second a while back) came by our studio for a visit.Los Ojos de Muerte has been getting deep into the LA art scene, both with his friendly nature and his camera lens! OOH! naughty… He came round on behalf of The Site Unscene, to see what we had in the works. We had a blast hanging out while we put some finishing touches on our pieces. Here are a selection of shots we liked the most. More can be found on the Flickr page.
